United airlines Pension and 1113(c) Update3/4/2005

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
The IAM this week met with United Airlines officials to further discuss our members' pensions. General Vice President Robert Roach, Jr. Airline Coordinator Tom Brickner, the IAM's legal and financial Officer Jake Brace and the company's labor counsel and advisors.
The IAM and United agreed to jointly request a meeting with representives from the Pension Benifit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) to explore various solutions to United's pensionproblems, including a review of the IAM"S comprehensive proposal to save the millions of dollars annually without changing our member's pensions benifits.
After a meeting scheduled with the PBGC, District 141 schedule a meeting with United to discuss the company's 1113(c) proposals. However, there will be no agreement with United Airlines on contract modifications unless our member's retirement benefits are secured.
The membership will be updated as developments occur.
